You may have some questions pertaining to the Centre which haven't been dealt with elsewhere on this website. Our 'Frequently Asked Questions' section is here to help, and hopefully it will be of marginally more use than these lists generally tend to be. If you still can't find the answer you were looking for, please do get in touch and we'll endeavour to assist.

1. Can students from the college use the sport centre?

         A. Yes, students get free use of the gym all year round Mon - Fri 8am - 6pm, and anytime at weekends, as well as all other activities all year round Mon - Fri 8am - 6pm. Membership for lower sixth students is included in the enrolment to the college, and students can then choose whether to renew their membership for their second year for £10. A gym induction/disclaimer will need to be completed prior to use of the fitness suite. Please note, due to the our safeguarding obligations, free use within the college day is only available to Hills Road students and they cannot bring on site non-hills road students during these times.

2. Do you have changing facilities at the centre?

         A. Yes, the centre is fully equipped with changing and shower facilities.

3. How much notice do I need to give when cancelling a booking?

         A. You need to give at least 48 hours notice to avoid paying the fee for your booking. If notice is given less than 48 hours before the booking, then the booking will need to be paid in full unless we are able to sell it to another customer, after which the arrear will be wiped from your account. Cancellations made outside of 48hrs notice will see a credit note applied to your membership that can be used against future bookings.

4. Do I have to book an induction if I have used other gyms previously?

         A. If you have used gyms before, and feel comfortable doing so, then a medical disclaimer can be signed in lieu of completing a full induction. If you require a refresher on how to use certain equipment, then a quick induction can be booked at reception or over the phone on 01223 500009.

5. What should I do if I have a medical condition which may affect my ability to exercise?

         A. Before using our gym you would be asked to complete a medical questionnaire. Depending on your answers, we may ask you to provide a doctor’s note confirming that you are able to complete the level of exercise required. If you have any concerns, please contact your doctor prior to visiting the Centre. We also ask all user to read our Health Declaration Statement

6. Can I hire equipment from the centre?

         A. Yes, rackets, balls, whatever you may need we should be able to provide

7. How far can I book activities in advance?

         A. Members can book 7 days in advance, non-members can book 5 days in advance.

8. I want to play sport but do not currently have a playing partner/team.

         A. For tennis and badminton there are our popular social sessions which run on a pay & play basis. Similarly, for squash and tennis there are contact lists on our notice boards of players seeking practice partners. Some of our 5-a-side groups are likewise sometimes looking for extra players, so keep an eye on our notice boards.

9. I want to use the gym, but I am only in Cambridge briefly.

         A. Not a problem - the gym can be used on a casual session basis or a 1 month fixed term. Our 12 for 10 gym session cards also have no expiry date, so represent great value if you visit Cambridge frequently.
