FAQs

You may have some questions pertaining to the Centre which haven't been dealt with elsewhere on this website. Our 'Frequently Asked Questions' section is here to help, and hopefully it'll be of marginally more use than these lists generally tend to be. If you still can't find the answer you were looking for, please do get in touch and we'll endeavour to assist.

1. How was the Sports Centre funded?
a. The Centre was built through financial and other assistance from the following organisations:

  • Foundation for Sport and the Arts
  • The Lawn Tennis Association
  • Cambridge City Council
  • Cambridgeshire Lawn Tennis Association
  • The Lottery Sports Fund
  • Hills Road Sixth Form College

2. How many hours' notice do I need to give when cancelling a booking?
a. You need to give at least 48 hours notice to avoid paying the court fee.

3. Do I have to book an induction if I have used other gyms previously?
a. All new gym users have to book an induction, regardless of their previous gym experience. This way, we can be sure that everyone is using the equipment safely.

4. What should I do if I have a medical condition which may affect my ability to exercise?
a. Before using our gym you would be asked to complete a medical questionnaire. Depending on your answers, we may ask you to provide a doctor’s note confirming that you are able to complete the level of exercise required. If you have any concerns, please contact your doctor prior to visiting the Centre. The Centre also operates a GP Referral Scheme in conjunction with the City Council's ExSite programme.  If you wish to find out more about this scheme please email James Dunham - jdunham@hillsroad.ac.uk
